Andros is one of the few cyclades islands that has numerous beautiful beaches,
ready to be discovered and enjoyed.
In the area of Hora or Andros Town
Near the lovely capital of Andros, is the organized beach of Niborio as well as
the small isolated beaches with clean sand and crystal clear waters of Achla,
Vori, Platanos and Gria Cape, all reachable by footpaths and some by a small
boat (leaving from Hora).
The long sandy beach of Paraporti is also a nice place to enjoy a
wonderful swim; from there a footpath leads to the deserted Lidi beach.
The nice beaches of Gialia and Pisso Gialia can be reached by car.In the area of Hydroussa
On the road linking Gavrio to Batsi, a lot of beautiful beaches can be found.
The vast sandy beach of Agios Petros has superb turquoise waters and, a few
meters away, one can find the beach of Psili or Chrissi Ammos (Fine or Golden
Sand) which really worth its name. Farther along is the long sandy beach of
Kipri.
Near Gavrio, is Fellos, a long and sandy beach of 5,5 kilometers. At close
distance are the exceptional secluded bays of Zorkos, Vitali, Mikri Peza and
Ateni, all with fine sand and amazing crystal-clear waters. There are fantastic beaches in Zoorgos and Vitali. On both
beaches you will find a taverna with traditional greek meals
Near Batsi is the small beach of Agia Marina, the small beach of Agios
Kyprianos with a lovely church of the same name on its side, and the pebble,
rocky beach of Stivari with deep clean waters.
One beach that should not be missed is the incredibly beautiful beach of
Apothikes with its light grey sand and its amazingly turquoise, clean waters: it
is a real paradise.
In the area of Korthi Bay or Korthion
Close to the little town of Ormos, the largest sandy beaches of the area are
Kantouni, Vintzi, Agia Ekaterini and Milos Beach, favorite for wind surfing and
which has also a wind surfing school.
More isolated are the beautiful beaches of Kalamonari, Bouros, Kremydes and the
lovely bay of Sineti with its beautiful crystal clear turquoise waters.
The famous and impressive beach called “Tis Grias to Pidima” (The Old Lady’s
Leap) is particularly beautiful with its really fine sand and its crystalline
waters.
This place was named after a local story where the Turks send an old woman with
her pregnant daughter to seek assistance to the castle and once inside the
castle the old woman, following the Turks' order, opened the gates and let them
in.
The Turks then destroyed everything and killed all the inhabitants; overcome
with guilt, the old woman climbed up a tall rock and fell into the sea, where
her body was petrified and that explains the huge upright rock standing in the
sea, in front of the beach.
The long sandy beach of Paraporti is also a nice place to enjoy a wonderful
swim; from there a footpath leads to the deserted Lidi beach.Paleopoli
A nice bay of the same name can be reach by a short walk and is the perfect
place to enjoy a cool and relaxing swim.
More isolated, sandy, rocky or pebble beaches can be discovered all over the
island, away from the villages and crowded places, reachable by old footpaths or
by boat
from Batsi.
